- There are no restrictions on reasons to leave home or the distance you can travel, but staying COVIDSafe remains important.
- There are no restrictions on travelling to metropolitan Melbourne from regional Victoria.
- You can move house.
- You can sell and inspect property.
- Auctions can be held outdoors subject to the 1 person per 4 sqm rule.
- Private property can have open inspections subject to the 1 person per 4 sqm rule.
- Display homes are open, with density requirements of 1 person per 4sqm.
Can I stay at my holiday house?
Yes. There are no travel restrictions in Victoria. You can travel to a second home in regional Victoria or in metropolitan Melbourne.
I have more than one home in regional Victoria. Can I choose which one I stay in?
Yes, you can travel between your homes within regional Victoria or metropolitan Melbourne.
Can I move house to metropolitan Melbourne?
Yes. You can move house anywhere in Victoria.
Can friends and family help me to move?
Yes, but those helping you move will count as your five visitors per day limit to your house. Extra friends or family can only help you move if you require care and compassionate support, due to your age, infirmity, disability, illness, chronic health condition, or matters relating to the person’s health (including mental health or pregnancy).
If anyone is unwell or has symptoms of COVID-19, they should stay home and get tested. This will help keep you and your loved ones safe.
Can I sell my house at auction?
Yes, you can put your home on the market for private sale or auction. Auctions can be held outdoors subject to the density quotient of 1 person per 4 sqm.
You can travel between metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria to attend an auction.
Can I visit a display home?
Yes. Display homes in regional Victoria are open with density requirements of 1 person per 4sqm. Face masks must be worn when viewing a display home.
Can I go to Melbourne to inspect a property?
Yes. Property inspections in Melbourne are required to be by private appointment only, with no more than 10 people and subject to the 1 person per 4 sqm rule. Open for inspection is not permitted.
Face masks must be worn while indoors, unless you have a lawful exception.
If you are unwell or have symptoms of COVID-19, you should not attend an inspection. Stay home and get tested.
How many people can do a routine inspection of a rental property? Can the landlord accompany the real estate agent?

Can tradespeople come into my home?

Can a cleaner come to my home?
Yes, a cleaner can come to your home. Ensure the cleaner’s time in your home is kept to a minimum. Keep at least 1.5 metres distance between you and the cleaner at all times. Your cleaner must wear a face mask. If possible, go out for a period of time or move to a different room from where the cleaner is working.

Can I leave home to undertake essential maintenance of a property other than my place of residence?
Yes. There are no limits on travel between metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, apart from restrictions on travel to an alpine resort if you live in metropolitan Melbourne.
In both metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, you should maintain at least 1.5 metres between you and anyone else onsite who is not from your household.
Can I visit a tip to drop off rubbish or green waste?
Yes, transfer stations are open to the general public.
Do Owners Corporations need a COVIDSafe plan?
An Owners Corporation needs a COVIDSafe plan in relation to its workplace and employees. An Owners Corporation also requires a COVIDSafe plan for all premises where there are shared spaces, including shared outdoor spaces.
