Dr. Ngaree Blow, Public Health Registrar
[Dr Ngaree Blow]: Hi, I’m Doctor Ngaree Blow. I’m a proud Yorta-Yorta, Quandamooka and Goreng-Goreng woman.
I would like to pay my respects to the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the land on which I’m standing on.
I’m here today to talk about the vaccines. Choosing to get the COVID-19 vaccine is the best way to protect you, your family and your community.
Before vaccines are made available in Australia, they need to pass strict safety standards set by Australia’s independent medicines regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
The COVID-19 vaccine being used in Australia has been used by millions of people around the world. Many people across Australia have now received their first dose of this vaccine.
Safety trials for these vaccines included more than 100,000 people.
Both vaccines help stop serious illness from COVID-19.
COVID-19 vaccines are free, safe and voluntary. Choosing to get vaccinated helps protect our family and our community.
