Dr. Midia Alias discusses COVID medicines

Hi, my name is Dr. Midia Alias. I'm an obstetrician and gynecologist.

What we know now we have antiviral medication. This medicine helps reduce the severity of the COVID infection, so it makes us have the symptoms less, but also reduces the chance of ending up in the hospital and the risk of dying because of COVID.

The antiviral medicine is available only by prescription, and that is through our doctors.

The best time for the medication to work its best is if it's taken the first 5 days of the symptom or the infection.

Therefore, once we have the infection the best thing we do is we see the family doctor to check and see if we are eligible for the medication.
