The Victorian Government rent relief grant is a payment of up to $3,000 available to Victorian tenants who are experiencing financial hardship due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The grant is paid directly to landlords on behalf of tenants.
Before tenants apply for the grant, they should:
- Agree on a temporary rent reduction with their landlord and register it with Consumer Affairs . Tenants may be eligible for the grant if they are still paying more than 30 per cent of their before tax (gross) income in rent after agreeing to a rent reduction.
- Check to see if they meet the other eligibility for the grant.
- Read more about the grant process on the Housing Vic .
