The Apprenticeship Employment Network (AEN) is working with the Department of Education to establish a Victorian register for retrenched apprentices and trainees, supported by staff to provide job matching and other assistance.
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has seen a sharp reduction in apprenticeship and traineeship employment, and it is expected that in the short to medium term future there will be a large and growing pool of displaced apprentices and trainees.
The Program for Retrenched Apprentices and Trainees has been created in response to the challenges faced by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The program aims to keep retrenched apprentices and trainees engaged with employment and/or training during the crisis so that they can eventually complete their apprenticeship or traineeships.
We want apprentices and trainees who have lost their employment to stay engaged with their training and complete their apprenticeship or traineeships, so that they can contribute to a skilled and productive workforce during, and after, the recovery phase.
