Register your public event

All public event organisers must register their events with the Victorian Government to ensure COVID-19 safety for attendees, staff and organisers.

Current restrictions in Victoria

The current lockdown in Victoria will be extended until 11:59pm Tuesday 27 July.

To understand how the current restrictions affect your workplace, see How we work: current restrictions page.

Tier 1 and Tier 2 public events (events with more than 1,000 attendees per day) are required to submit a COVIDSafe Event Plan to the Victorian Government.

All Tier 1 events will need to be approved by the Victorian Government before they can go ahead.

Tier 2 public events can go ahead without government approval if they can comply with the Public Event Framework’s settings. If your event can’t operate under the settings of the framework, it will need to be approved by the Victorian Government.

Tier 3 events (1,000 people or less) that can operate under the current COVIDSafe Settings and a venue or business COVIDSafe Plan, don’t need to be registered with the Government, although it is recommended.

If your Tier 3 event does not have a COVIDSafe Plan you will need to fill out and submit a COVIDSafe Event Checklist. Your event will still need to operate within the Restricted Activity Directions (Victoria). The checklist is now part of the online registration form below and no longer needs to be uploaded as a separate document.

To find out which tier your event is, visit the Public events homepage and use the self-assessment tool
